Time is whizzing by and I'm feelin' a little rushed. I'm starting with the rifle design first, so by the time I develop the hunter's look, I won't have to worry about drawing a random gun in his hand... This is probably the extent of the sketches I'll do before I narrow them down and begin perspective drawings. I tried to go for more of a slim, lightweight, possibly collapsable design for this guy out in the field. Red dot marks my favorites. I'd love any critiques, feel free to tear my work apart or give any suggestions as to what you like or how I could improve. Thanks guys.

You know that's a really good idea, nailing down the personality of the character with the prop to make it easier, I should have thought of that, hahaha. I honestly like the one in the fist column, forth row alot. That larger barrel thing could be interesting to see oversized for some intense sniper, but it doesn't seem collapsible so I don't know if that's really what you're going for. How intense of sci-fi are you doing for this story, tech wise I mean, because you could do a lot with the mechanisms of the gun to personify the character at the beginning of the story I think. It would make for a unique and meaningful gun design
ReplyDeleteThanks for the feedback! I've pretty much decided to put the rifle on the back burners and simply add it to the character development page. If I have the time, I really think it would be important to include a vehicle as the main prop. As for the level of future technology, I want to create a nice contrast between the modern instruments and precision of the hunter's tools with the rustic nature of the indigenous people and maybe even some of the hunter's ethnic clothing. I'd like to keep it lookin pretty functional and the gun on the fourth row has a massive suppressor which could look a little goofy. I really need to start working on this character, so I'm not too worried about the finished product of the rifle.
