Hi, Guys. Here are some digital paintings from earlier this year. Most of these were painted from life with a few master-copies at the end. Thanks for taking a look!

LIfe Drawings from fall, 2015

Hey guys. Here's some humans done in charcoal...
On a side note, I don't seem able to make comments on blog posts at the moment, so if I don't participate, just know that I don't hate you and that I probably really like whatever's been posted.
Hope to see more of your guys' stuff soon.

In space no one can hear you scream.

No longer a sneak peak, here is everything! with comments!! This project taught me loads about myself as a designer and what I am doing personally with all this Alien stuff, because where the hell do you start when you have to say, "Huh?...Who? Oh, That Giger guy? Yeah I could do better..."

But here it is. Im dumping all the backstory too if anyone is actually interested!

The stoic and brilliantly impossible derelict sat black against the red sun, they would have to take a closer look.
I guess I'll get back and talk about the derelict later, but you get the idea, stark and simple symbolism to pay homage to the original but also to pierce through into, hopefully, something new, visually or anything else.

The Nostromo. The sort of sentence I had going in my head was: monolithic flying triangle that mines an entire mountain in space.
At this point the flying black triangle had been elevated to an obsidian pyramid lit by the extreme red light of a dying sun.

This one was a little tricky because I wanted the fact that this is a superstructure to be the second read. I was trying to adapt a watercolor style to this project just so that it would be detailed out to a level everywhere without having to really try. After all, the humans in my reboot version use a 3D printer meets injection molding meets chemical reactions. I'll talk about it more later but it leads to most of the surfaces having a more natural or textural feel to them.

Anyways to capture the massive scale in a subtle way I stamped the watercolor over itself until it started looking a little more superstructury and then I cut a couple of holes out strategically to suggest looking at the darker areas as though they are an understructure versus the higher over structure. I find that if people take that bait then the image Immediately has more depth and interest. Thats what happened to me at least.
The lander! Honestly I was really lost with this one until about the last week so these are very desperate searching attempts that didn't really get me anywhere. They showed me where to not keep going and eventually I did find something, albeit very late, but hey thats the nature of the process sometimes and ya gotta love it.
I had the idea from an old paper airplane design we made in grade school once. The idea was that maybe some of the weird magenta clouds in the planets high atmosphere get sort of caught in the offput field of the landers engines and it just ends up tagging along and thats some very loose (though still justifiable) symbolism to childhood that works within the larger themes.

This is an unfinished cutaway view of the bridge and human living quarters. Hopefully more to come soon!
The lifeboat is comes as a stock metal frame with chemical canisters not included. provided the correct chemical cocktail and fabricating chamber, the frame can transform into an escape module in just 5 minutes. As shown on the next page.

was hoping to do alot more drawings describing this guy better. perspective!!
This is the Suit. Its a glass helmet made by the same 3d printing process as the ships whats different is the rest of the suit is grown on top of the wearer's skin.

A sketch of what the humans might look like fresh out of cryo-sleep.
So Mother is the big thing I started changing. So whats worse than being in space? Being in space in a ship whose design has 99 percent of its interiors submerged in a liquid computing element that the alien is invisible to for some reason and the computer knows and is freaking out. or at least the humans are freaking out. Underwater Space Nightmare!!!!
Above the already mirror like surface, they come to a passage...
This is an idea I didn't quite get to explore, surrogates are used by the humans to communicate with and upkeep mother. Some obvious fetus inspiration, and then some indication of what else I'm saying mother is. just with that visual of the fetal position and umbilical chord. Pictures are cool, hopefully I'll get to make more on this topic.
The Egg! Its gonna get a little sexual from here on in! For this design, think: Penis that can look at you the way you look at it.
There are still many more drawing to do for this one.
Facehuggin it up with long fingers! and maybe fingers that have fingers?
Imagine It (that means I need more drawings): the egg turns to you and opens it's eye, the pupil unfolds and a black liquid pours out, what looks like massive fingers spider their way out of the pupil and at them end of them balled fists now grab the skin of the egg for support as the palm of the hand with hands that came out of an eyball on giant red penis inside of an impossible shape spaceship on a crazy planet came out and brought itself to bear.
SUPER long tail for extra nasty entire chest burster coming out of the nose scene.
expirementing with heads, how do you pay homage to Giger while it still being original and not sucking?? I felt if it would be anywhere it would be on the details of a more designed body and taking the phalanx head in a different direction.

I should really go in and put a bigger picture of just the final guy on here.

Yeah I should Still go in and make that all smooth and fix some proportions, now that I think of it theres alot of stuff I could do to fix this guy.

I wanted the derelict ship to subtly be an M. C. Eshcer impossible shape.
Trying to play with weird shadows and get the mood right.

Im really new to stuff like this so I'm sure theres ways I could've communicated what I am about to say better. I thought It might be interesting to have the guy be alone with the android when the chest burster, or in this case, the face hole exiter exits the body, it'd be pretty creepy too after that for the guy to still be alive and all he knows how to do is talk about how he's hungry and thirsty.

Well there you go, wasnt that fun? Hope yall enjoyed it and There will be more to come!
